We're total suckers for underdogs. And under-mice. Especially when the mouse in question is fighting a snake.A viper kept by a Taiwanese fire station was given the mouse for its daily feeding. Little did it know that it came with a side of whoop-ass. The mouse bit and scratched the venomous snake to death before the snake could land a single blow.
The amazed firefighters, who took pictures the whole time (not shown -- that's a different mouse and snake) said the whole ordeal lasted about 30 minutes.
While this is clearly awesome, we're worried about the possibilities of a food chain gone topsy turvy. If prey is going to start fighting back, we might end up murdered by a particularly scrappy box of bagel bites.

I saw a similar story some years ago about a 6 foot king cobra in a zoo that was killed by the mouse chewing through the back of the snake's neck. Feisty little rascals, eh?

This is not uncommon. The snake probably wasn't hungry, and I am assuming it was kept in a terrarium. Under these conditions the mouse did what came naturaly and defended itself . Any snake owner will tell you not to feed live prey unless someone is present at all times during feeding. Also you mentioned the snake being fed "daily", snakes usually are fed once a week. And not to mention the firefighters watched and photographed the whole thing for 30min? Sounds pretty cruel to me.

Not a daily feeding, they caught the snake and decided to give it dinner. It was a wild snake.

I think we can all agree, that mouse deserves to live. If he can kick the ass of a venomous snake, they should keep him as a pet.

Ooooh shocker. NOT! That isn't a mouse, its a gerbil. The snake didn't recognize it as a food item as they have different smells. The gerbil isn't a naturally occuring animal in the snakes area. Hence why it bit and killed the snake. Also, that food item was WAYY too large for the snake to devour and it probably knew that. Yuck, nothing smells worse than a regurgitated mouse/gerbil!!!! Only feed a snake prey as large as the thickest part of its body.
