Coffee lovers can argue for hours about the secrets to brewing the perfect cup: water-to-beans ratio, time between grinding beans and brewing, water temperature. However, no one has ever said, "This would taste better if it were infused with a dead flying animal."Such was the unfortunate fate of one Iowa woman. She'd noticed a bat flying around her home, but didn't think much of it. Until, that is, she found the thing dead in her automatic coffee maker, its corpse in the filter that had been used for her morning java.
The woman has undergone a series of treatments over the past month to rule out exposure to rabies. The bat was sent to a lab for rabies testing, but the health department pronounced its brain too French-roasted to make a fair assessment.
