As a child, when I went to new events, people would often sing a song that went something like, "Step up, step up, introduce yourself." It followed a rhyming beat, and you usually had to stand in the middle of a circle while talking about yourself and attempting to keep the beat without being verklempt. I guess it's my turn in the middle of the circle:
My name is Amanda. I'm young, married and babied, your not-so-average college student. I have a fabulous husband and a hilarious three-year-old daughter. Now, I realize you probably expected a more exciting introduction. Maybe something with more bravado or just a smidgen of spice, but this is me. I'm into reading, writing, music, listening and blogging. Additionally, I love social media and celebrity gossip, and I have a crazy penchant for television. Any "Grey's Anatomy," "House" or "The Office" fans out there?

My average day usually begins with getting both my daughter and I ready for our commute to school. She just started preschool, and I'm in my last semester of college. While I try to make sense of my unkempt hair, I am simultaneously braiding hers. After rushing around to ensure that neither of us will be late, we hit the road. When I get to school, I face the doom of a day full of classes. As a science major, between classes and labs I am busy with school every day of the week.
When I leave school, I can't just go home and flop down in my bed, and I don't always have time to study. I pick my daughter up, and we go home to make dinner. Dinner in my house is usually complicated, because I am a vegetarian and my husband and daughter are quite carnivorous. Eventually, my daughter goes to sleep, and I study while sneaking in a bit of television and sneak in some writing at my own blog.
When I'm not busy thanking the universe for DVR, I'm writing, talking or laughing. As a student, wife and mother, I feel like I spend a lot of time answering random questions that usually begin with the word "Why."
"Why is the sky blue?"
"Why do elephants have four legs?"
"Why does my cell phone make a funny sound when it is placed near my computer?"
Finally, at the end of my day, I manage to get some sleep by finding solace in my down comforter. But, hey, that's my life. When you're this busy, you have to write it down to make sense of it all.
Welcome to my life -- and my blog.

Congrats on the writing gig!
Can I just say that in my house we have a calendar where we do a countdown to the first episode of all of our favorite shows...
15 Days till Grey's, The Office and Survivor, 6 days till House, 21 days until Friday Night Lights and 18 days until Family Guy. Wow I'm pathetic!
Oh and Superbad is possibly the second best movie of all time surpassed only by The Anchorman!

I'm definitely a House fan, I haven't tried the others but they sound good so perhaps one day I'll have time to give them a try too. Congrats on this position, and love your blog =)!
